Impressum Marina Ivanova, soprano, was born in Moscow into a family of musicians and began her piano studies at the age of four with her mother, a renowned piano professor. She studied piano with Prof. Vera Gornostajeva  and voice  with Prof. Kudrjavzeva- Lemesheva at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow from which she graduated with Honours in piano, voice and opera. Subsequently she participated in master classes with Galina Vishnevskaja, Helmuth  Rilling and Anna Reynolds.   A top prize winner in numerous competitions, Ms. Ivanova was awarded First Prize in the international Neue Stimmen Gesangswettbewerb (New Voices Vocal Competition) of the Bertelsmann Foundation in 1993, where upon she accepted a contract to join the ensemble of the Aalto Theater in Essen, Germany.   In 2000 she joined the ensemble of the National Theater of Mannheim, as a principal lyric soprano. Her repertory of over 70 operas includes such roles as Violetta, Mimi, Pamina, Nedda, Micaela, Liu, Maria Stuarda, Susanna, Gilda, Cleopatra, Gretel, Adina, Antonia, Elisabetta (Roberto Devereux). In addition  to her obligations in Mannheim, she is a frequent guest in other leading European opera houses, among them the Frankfurt Opera (Violetta) and the Staatstheater Stuttgart  where she sang Pamina in the Peter Konwitchny production of Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte”.  This was followed by a tour of Japan with the production.   Marina Ivanova is active as concert singer whose extensive repertory encompasses the major vocal-symphonic works of the Baroque, Classic, Romantic and Contemporary periods: Bach B-Minor Mass, Mozart C Minor Mass, Beethoven’s Missa Sonemnis (most recently in a highly successful concert tour of Italy with the “A.Toscanini” Orchester and conductor R.Barshai) and alo iverse art songs and chamber works of Giuseppe Verdi, Sergei Rachmaninov, Peter Tchaikowski, Modest Mussorgski, Pier Paolo Tosti, Claude Debussy, Claudio Monteverdi, Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, Leonard Bernstein et. and sang the world premiere of the “Song Cycle”  by Alemdar Karamanov in Russia.   She has also toured with the Moscow Music Academy Choir and Orchester and is a frequent guest at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera and Rossini Festival as well as the Heidenheim Opera Festival in Germany. Ms. Ivanova can be heard in various art songs of Giuseppe Verdi in the recording “Tutto Verdi” (a benefit project for the re-building of La Fenice in Venice) and as Rosina in the Arte Nova recordings of both Paisiello’s and Rossini’s  “Barbiere di Siviglia.”. As of this writing she is in the process of recording the complete songs of Frédéric Chopin.
